I love this guy!

Mission leadership council started Tuesday at noon and went through lunch on Wednesday.  Dad taught about the principle of exact obedience.  He is such a good teacher!  He teaches with love and humility and yet clear and unwavering doctrine.  The missionaries were so receptive and the spirit was strong.  As I sat there both days I just couldn't resist taking this picture of what I was seeing.  It was a bit of déjà vu!   it brought to my heart many tender memories of our first June together, 40 years ago.  We moved into an old duplex on Ninth East in Provo.  Outside our front windows, almost completely covering them from the view of passersby, were big lilac bushes, filled with fragrant blossoms.  We would leave the windows open all night and the heavenly smell would fill our little apartment. The smell of lilacs has always reminded me of that first spring together.  So as I sat tuesday and wednesday through MLC, listening to him teach and smelling the beautiful lilac bushes framed by white windows, I couldn't help reflecting gratefully on the blessings of these 40 years.  I was seeing in my mind a perfect Then and Now picture.  As I listened to him teach and felt the power of his words and example to our missionaries, my heart was filled with gratitude for this amazing man that I am so blessed to love.  The Lord is amplifying and expanding his talents as we serve.  I am humbled to see the growth and power in the Priesthood calling that has come to him.  We are being stretched and taught by these experiences. I love the growth that comes with sacrifice.   I love being his companion, now and forever!
