Update on Mom and Dad

I just got off the phone with mom and she said with the exception of the lost luggage the whole day couldn't have gone any better! Apparently Delta said losing luggage on flights like that happens occasionally and they hope to find it by Monday. Let's all keep a prayer going for that so dad can have clothes to wear!

Mom said they had a wonderful dinner with the Rusts and the senior office couple. They ate roast with a tomato topping, mushrooms, baked potatoes, homemade rolls and Texas sheet cake with ice cream. They felt very welcomed and had a great time. Then they drove around the city a bit with the Rusts. They say the city is lush and green, with tall trees throughout the city and kind of forest-like. They both said it reminds them a bit of Germany. They drove past the mission office, but they didn't go inside cause the Rusts wanted to spend time at the apartment showing them around.

Mom said they finished all the updates on the apartment so they're in the actual place! They both said it is very clean and nice, that the hardwood is the same kind as what we have in the gallery at home, the appliances are modern and european-style, and that it feels like they have plenty of space. She said a few times that we'll all be very comfortable and at home when we come to visit. (hint?)

Dad spent two hours with President Rust going through the stake president type stuff, what's going on in the areas, church councils etc. Mom spent the same time with Sister Rust going through the apartment, getting information about instructions, details, how to work the washer and dryer, where to shop, labels of her favorite food, etc. She also said she noticed there is a lot of great shopping around the city and she is confident she can get the things she needs over there. When I asked how they were feeling and if they felt overwhelmed, they both said they feel like they have a lot of support. They have a full time driver and cleaners that will help with the house every week. Mom sounded very upbeat.

It was about 11:00 p.m. over there and the sun was still up! They were told the sun comes up at 3:30 a.m. I hope they have good blinds! They're exhausted and ready to call it a night. Mom was able to sleep quite a bit on the flights and dad slept a little but not much. They have church at 11 a.m. and it sounds like its about a half hour drive. Dad's going to speak and then they'll watch the translated broadcast that we saw last week. They sound wonderful and very happy. Let's all keep them in our prayers as they become acclimated and start this new adventure.

We love you, mom and dad!
Lauren
